i read that yesterday. huge pith about macauley, anytime ive seen him play for the eagles, he was the best back. seems to be giving up pro or even semi pro. his comment:

“A good bit before the end of last season I decided I didn’t want to carry on with it.

no wonder he wasnt given a contract, he didnt want one.

with reilly he seemed more pushed about going further.

“I was looking into trying to get into the Championship, but I’m not 100% set on it at the moment. I’m enjoying it over here and I was also thinking of heading to see my friends to Australia for a while,” says 23-year-old Reilly.
“I could just end up playing club rugby in Dublin, so all the doors are pretty much open. I haven’t really set my mind to one at the moment; I’ll wait until the season ends here.”

but its not the usual, 'i want to play for a province' etc etc. its more. 'ah sure, i'll be grand' attitude. yes, every door is pretty much open, but some doors are bigger then others. the bigger doors close sooner.

Dylan rodgers moved to Hongkong around the new year and won the Hong kong premier league with HKCC Rugby in late february.

having a look at players who left since summer 2010 till summer 2013, 35 players left. only a handful have made it. 2 came back, fionn and george

the good players we knew are doing well, keats, croinin, macca, fets etc
any player who left cause they 'werent good enough' proved they werent good enough apart from,
fanning, fa'amausili, monahan,

Where has fa'amausili gone? Thought that he struggled to impress even with Corinthians in AIL?

Interesting that our longest serving (unbroken service) are Swifty, John Mul, Loughs, Brownie, TOH (23) and Miah (open to correction) Just shows how much our squad has changed over the years!

He went to San Gregorio for a year and then Montpellier HR in the top14 came in and handed him a 3 year deal till 2015. i cant get any up to date stats on games, but from first season up to feb 2013, he had 11 games played.

No it's not. There's no place for sentiment in professional sport

I'd agree with Culk there, think given the level of his performances the time is right for for him to go. Also think that our younger options need the space to be tested more, Miah needs to stay fit this season and as Senior outhalf needs to really push to make the slot his own, if he doesn't I think he's pretty much done with us.

My feeling is that Ronaldson will become the man, he has the physicality, the bit of a break/pace and the place/tactical-kicking. He will have a much better idea this season of what it means to be a Professional Rugby player and what level of performance is required to play Pro12/European rugby.

Carty is a different sort of player, good skills but I don't think he has the same presence at this level yet as MIah/Craig.

Who know what the opportunities of having no Parks will afford him though. At the moment it's a slot tat is open to any of the thre if they put in a solid pre-season and take their chances in the warm-up games...

I saw more than one grown man cry in the Stade Ernest Wallon, and I wouldn't begrudge any of them their tears.
Without sentiment, there would be no professional sport.

Our only Top 14 player, Damian Browne, scored two tries (!!) for Oyonnax in the Rhône-Alpes derby against monied Lyon. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough...

So Aaron Conneely has headed up the M6 and landed in Mike Ruddock's Lansdowne squad, a big loss for Corinthians and may explain their struggles in the Senior League.. Hope it works out well for the young fella, of the two Conneely's I always though that Aaron would make it in the Pro game. Don't know what his long-term goals are but being at one of the top clubs in the country coul dbe a big springboard back into the Pro game either here or in the UK..
