I see Fetu Vainikolo started for Exeter in their LV Cup final victory over Northampton. Delighted for Exeter. Its not the most glamorous competition but good to see one of the non-traditional teams pick up a trophy.

i know its not high level but yesterday saw second from bottom jersey take on ealing.
mark mccrea scored 2 trys in a 25-23 loss away where tj anderson came on for last 5mins for ealing.
niall o connor again wasnt in the match squad although he did play 3 weeks ago coming on early in the second half, he wasnt the kicker that day.

Mark McCrea & NOC --Jersey
TJ Anderson--Ealing Trailfinders RFC
Eoghan Grace--Plymouth RFC
Matthew Jarvis--Nottingham RFC

its hard to judge players from not seeing them but neither team seem to be doing well.
plymouth 7th, 34 points from the top, to be fair i think Grace has been playing well and even scored a try in his last game. not surprisingly he was injured during the season.

nothingham are 10th and i do believe jarvis is having good games at outhalf. again i cant really judge, hard to say but if you have a firing outhalf and team is not winning then its usually the other players fault

not much to say about jersey or ealing, second bottom and bottom. i believe mccrea signed a 18month contract when he left us so interesting if he stays. ive always thought he was better then he was given chance here

Tj Anderson - 10 starts + 2 subs = 873 mins. 1 TRY

E Grace - 7 starts + 2 subs = 497 mins. 2 TRYS
(Subbed round 7, at 38mins. out for 5 games, started round 13, 52mins and didnt play again till round 17. ie missed half the season played).

M McCrea - 16 starts + 1 sub = 1296 mins. 5 TRYS. 1 YELLOW

NOC - 14 starts + 1 sub = 1084 mins. 125 points.

M Jarvis - 15 starts + 2 subs = 1245 mins. 166 points.

Thank god i'll be hungover tomorrow to even consider doing what i did to get that information.

RS Massey , the Paris-based club where Niall O'Brien plays, has qualified for the Fed One play offs in France after topping their pool. It's a long process and the final won't be until 7 June!

Montauban, who look unbeatable, are in the other half of the draw so they cannot meet until the final (the two finalists are promoted to Pro2). Both clubs are fully professional unlike most of the other sides at that grade.

Would love to have him back even at 34. He's IQ, a former captain and great player. Someone tell Pat!

It'd be great to have Bruce back in some capacity for sure, probably our best ever foreign recruit. But from a rugby point of view he has huge mileage on the clock. Barely missed a half dozen games for us and an ever present for Grenoble in his first three seasons....

True but maybe in a player/coach capacity? Probably wistful thinking. I'm sure he has a line of suitors in France looking for his signature.

Jersey RFC sign five new players ahead of new season

Jersey RFC have announced the signing of five new players for next season.
Former Northampton Saints scrum-half Ryan Glynn is among the new arrivals, alongside Dragons back Lewis Robling and Nottingham prop Harry Williams.
Darlington Mowden Park lock Pierce Phillips and Australian centre Tobias Hoskins also join Harvey Biljon's team.
Additionally, five existing squad players have signed new contracts; Joe Buckle, Nick Campbell, Joel Dudley, Mark McCrea and Aaron Penberthy.
The news comes a week after props Danny Herriott and Ben Rogers also signed for the club for next season.
Glynn's move to Jersey comes after three years of dual registration with Moseley, while Hoskins, 24, has experience with Perth side Western Force Super Rugby.
Aged 22, 21 and 22 respectively, Robling, Phillips and Williams complete a youthful quintet of new signings.
Jersey face a battle to ensure their new signings will be playing Championship rugby next season as they currently sit three points above bottom-placed Ealing Trailfinders with just two matches remaining.

with one game to go, ealing have 26 points, jersey have 24. correct me if im wrong, but isnt there a 2 leg play off for relegation?
ive asked mark if its 1 year or 2 year he has signed for

Meanwhile, Shanahan is delighted Warner and Grace have committed themselves to another season with the club.

Winger Warner arrive in 2012, while Irish flanker Grace joined the club last summer.

Grace returns to action tomorrow from a three-month lay-off due to a serious knee injury. He has been named on the bench to face Jersey.

“Eoghan has been unfortunate with injuries,” said Shanahan.

“But when he’s played he has brought something different to the other back-row players.

“He has an ability to make things happen on the field.

“He is also a really good leader it he squad.

“Eoghan has got a good rugby brain and he is a massive asset for us.”

no word on matthew jarvis at nothingham. seems there fans are happy with kicking from the ground but not with his open play.

Grenoble has confirmed that Farley will be joining the management team next season; "gérer la logistique de l’équipe, la gestion et le management et les relations avec les joueurs, le comportement et la discipline de l’équipe, l’intégration des nouveaux joueurs et un peu de recrutement" and such like!

Massy has qualified for the semi-finals of Federale One by defeating Aix over two legs. Niall O'Brien started at 12 alongside former Leinster player, Eoghan Hickey, at out half. Next up is a two-legged semi-final against Tyrosse. A win guarantees promotion to Pro2 next year for the Paris side.

I was with a busload of U-12s a few years ago for matches with Tyrosse. Very welcoming, nice people, nice club, and good food :) Good to see them doing well.
