This wasn't in the news but Connacht had a ticket competition where you had to name the player in a photo. It was Gavin Williams. For the criac I looked him up on wikipedia and I learned things I never knew... (Someone tampered with his profile)
Gavin Williams (rugby union)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
correct as of 21 October 2010.
Jim Pickens (born 25 October 1979) is a Martian Justice league superhero, who plays club rugby for Martians Broccoli, and internationally for Template:Legoland. He saves the world as a Giant Banana and sometimes a Teapot.
Pickens signed for the justice league from a betting shop in bradford. Connacht, where he played from 2005 until the end of the 2006–07 season. After leaving Connacht, he went on to make his debut for Samoa in summer 2007, in a match against Fiji. Williams scored a try and conversion in Samoa's opening game in the 2007 World Cup.
Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Gavin Williams has a strong family connection in rugby with his father Bryan Williams, a strong All Black winger, and brother Paul Williams, who has represented Auckland and Canterbury plus the Crusaders and Blues.

Was reading
The Rugby Paper
at the weekend and I see Shane Monahan is one of the leading try scorers in the English Championship this season with Rotherham.

Another player who came into Conancht Rugby and dissapeared out the back door....
I see Darragh Fanning is back in Dublin with Mary's as well, cannot understand why after one season (in which he seemed to be settling in well on the pitch) he wasn't offered a second year...?

Fanning is struggling to make the Marys team i hear. He played J1 a few weeks ago against a very poor trinity team. I saw he only came on as a sub for marys at weekend also.

I wouldn't read too much into that, he could be coming back from injury. Not sure how long he's back in country from Oz either. Played a full championship winning season with Tuggeranong Vikings in Queensland Premiership scoring buckets of tries on way to final which was on 10th September - http://www.greenandgol-_-by.com/john-i-dent-cup-grand-final/ .
To give you an idea of the standard some recent past Vikings players include Manny & Huia Edmonds, Mark Chisholm, Joe Riff, Justin Harrison, Matt Henjak, Radike Samo, Julian Salvi and the Faingaa twins

Ezra Taylor has just signed for Worcester Warriors.
Always felt both sad and angry with the Ezra deal. His injuries stopped him from ever getting any momentum and he showed some talent when he played, but for the most part I got the impression of someone who really didn't care, more interested in polishing his muscles in the gym than knuckling down.

I'd often see him in the gym in Salthill, posing mainly.ummm, wrote: Ezra Taylor has just signed for Worcester Warriors.

That's all he's good for
Hope Worcester aren't pinning their survival hopes on him

Cillian Willis doing well in his retirement I see, got a try for Sale today in the Challenge Cup, seems to be doing pretty well there, was a bit underutilised last season I feel but then again had his injury problems.

Nice to see if you're a Leinster fan, but a bit hard to watch if you're a Connacht fan after the pile of sh*te in Thomond...

They are gone, that's all there is to it. I'm still happy to see them do well as I was a big fan when they were with us, particularly Hagan.

Samoan international loose forward Ezra Taylor will miss the rest of the Aviva Premiership season after suffering a serious knee injury in his Worcester debut.
He lasted 2 mins huh? You gotta feel for Worcester that's bad luck even by our standards.
