Strongly disagree with the having to retire at Connacht rule. I imagine that would rule out boat-loads of hall of famers from many other clubs and sports own inductions. Ciaran Fitzgerald and Eric are great shouts. Should probably wait until some of the player's mentioned above futures are clear before deciding. Is it 2 inductees every year?

I don't think there should be criteria, but a few guidelines wouldn't go amiss.
But if you look at Fionn Carr, for example, if he wasn't about to return then that means we wouldn't be able to induct Connacht's leading try scorer of all time if we wanted to.
I don't think there's anything wrong with inducting former players. Macca will always be a fan favourite, it would seem unfair to him not to get the recognition when the time comes.
And does anyone know where Diom is? I sent him a mail a few weeks ago and he hasn't been on here since the beginning of the month.

This is something myself and Diom had a lively discussion on in the Green Room before the Munster match at Xmas. From what I understand, currently the criteria for entry to the HoF are:
This is only the second year of the HoF, current inductees are Keith Matthews and Ray Ofisa.
- They have to have been with Connacht for 5 years
- They have to finish their career at Connacht

Two good shouts, there.
Not sure about Flav. I wouldn't want us to get into a habit of inducting players just because they're finishing up. Flav has been a great servant, but HoF material? I don't think someone who has been a back up for the majority of his career with us can rightfully claim to be a hall of famer. I don't want to be the guy to put a downer on it, but a HoF is not a Hall of Quite Good, no matter how much we might like a particular player or appreciate him.
Seeing as it's a Lions year, acknowledging Ciaran Fitzgerald as the only Connacht player to captain the Lions might be worth considering.

Connacht Clan Hall of Fame 2013 was created by connachtexile
So it's the 31st of January today and it being a slow news week for Connacht I though I'd start the ball rolling with who we should induct into the Hall of Fame this year. Apologies if I'm stepping on anyone's toes here in the Clan with plans etc but I figure the season is beginning to close and these things usually take planning etc. So who do people think we should nominate and induct into the Clan Hall of Fame this year? Should we stick with two or should we induct more?
My nominees are the following:
Eric Elwood - if I have to tell you why then your not a Connacht Rugby Fan.
and the other person I'd like to nominate is Gerry Kelly our former CEO. He keep Connacht going during the bad years and while we may not agree with some of his decisions without him we wouldn't have a Connacht Rugby Club today.
So that's my 2 cents hope to hear your opinions.
P.S. I also think Adrian Flavin should be inducted if he retires.
