Will probably take you up on your offer if we do go down that route.

Cool, sure let me know so. You can consider this me formally volunteering to setup/run a Clan Facebook page if you guys want one.

There is certainly a larger number of Connacht Rugby followers than members of this forum, which isn't great to be honest. I was at a match last Christmas and one of the folks I was with, a major Connacht fan, didn't even know that the Clan exists.

We don't really need to duplicate the same thing on facebook, but it would be nice if they popped over here once in a while.

Outward communication is one of the issues I have frequently commented on with regards to the Clan and it's future success, for events to be a success they need to be planned and communicated as far out from launch as possible.

With regards to Facebook, it's a current medium and in all likelihood a Clan Facebook page would feel more accessible to most supporters as people are presented in real terms, sadly our type of forum has a bad name (from the sins of others) because of the types of posters with a propensity for flaming while hiding behind nom du plumes.

Yes it would definitely be a way to promote the forum or indeed let people know it exists! But I think generally Forums are for more hardcore fans of any given subject and I think we all know there just aren't a huge amount of hardcore Connacht fans...yet. Facebook is an excellent tool to engage the more casual fans. It can take a bit of effort to sign up to a forum, registering, usernames, sifting through threads etc... Facebook is more like the Fast Food version, all they have to do is click the 'Like' button and updates appear in their newsfeed. And if they choose to Like a post or comment on something it will appear in all their friends newsfeeds as well, exponentially increasing exposure. The other provinces supporters groups all have a Facebook presence and I'd wager the other Rabo teams do too. It just makes sense to me that The Clan should have one. I really don't think a Facebook page would detract greatly from the Forum as the userbases are mostly different and probably want different things from their online Clan experience.

I'm not on Facebook. I absolutely refuse to be on Facebook.

So if there was a facebook page you guys would miss out on me. Just think about that for a moment. Practically a world without meaning, really.

If you want to post on their Facebook as The Clan you could do that from a Clan Facebook page. I don't think it would be just re-hashing the Official Branch stuff. there's a lot of interesting debate on here that wouldn't (or couldn't) happen on the Official Connacht page. I reckon it would be a great way to get more people involved and get a lot more exposure for Clan Events, there's 260 members of this forum of which only about 30 - 40 post regularly. Facebook has what, almost 1 Billion users?? I know they're not all Connacht Fans but you see where I'm going with this. The whole anonymity thing can turn off people as well I find, Forums can be unintentionally intimidating to new users. The Clan Twitter is great for re-tweeting links to newspaper articles etc.. you can link that to a Facebook page so it updates that too automatically.

Anyway, just a suggestion, tis up to yereselves but I can assist with looking after the page if you want to go down that road. Offers open.

Reason is because we felt we would be re-hashing much of what was on the Connacht Rugby page.
We are after them to give us the ability to post properly on their page AS the Connacht Clan but there hasn't been much progress with that.
With Martin F heading off we have since dealt with two successors so the flux hasn;t helped. Will get back onto it though because it is a great way to PUSH info out to people.

i think the reason there is no clan facebook page is that if we were posting same thing here and on facebook then people whould know who we really are, rather than a name with no face.
it would be too real
this could also stop people from posting in one and not the other and make it weaker.
wouldnt surprise me if it was set up that some people would set up there own page with the user name they have here.
it was said before but i think it could get messy

This sounds great, looking forward to it. The official Connacht App is terrible, Ezra Taylor is still listed as a squad member for instance...

Why is there no Clan Facebook page? If you need someone to Admin one I could probably look after that. I run my bands Facebook page amongst other social networking sites.
