Autumn Nations Irish Squad

Andy Farrell has named a 36-man Ireland squad for the inaugural Nations Championship Southern Hemisphere series, and the West of Ireland is heavily stamped across the roster. Despite a bruising injury list ruling out stars like Mack Hansen and Shayne Bolton, six Connacht players have made the cut for the upcoming clashes against Australia, Japan, and New Zealand.

The Uncapped Trio Making Waves

The biggest talking point of Farrell's selection is the inclusion of three uncapped Connacht forwards who have rightfully earned their senior call-ups after standout domestic campaigns:

  • Billy Bohan: The promising prop returns to the national setup after embedding himself in the environment during the Six Nations earlier this year.
  • Sam Illo: An explosive, powerful prop who gets his senior nod following impressive showings for Emerging Ireland.
  • Sean Jansen: The dynamic loose forward brings serious physical presence to the back row, rewarded for a massive breakthrough season in Galway.

Experienced Heads and Rising Stars

Alongside the newcomers, Connacht’s established test match quality will be vital for the arduous southern hemisphere tour:

  • Bundee Aki (69 Caps): The talismanic center remains the heartbeat of both his province and country. His experience and power in midfield will be essential, especially with several frontline players missing.
  • Cian Prendergast (11 Caps): The versatile back-rower continues to grow on the international stage and will push hard for a starting jersey.
  • Darragh Murray (3 Caps): The young lock retains his place in the squad, offering excellent athleticism and depth to the tight five.

"Congratulations to Billy, Sam, and Sean on their selections. Each of them has earned the right to be selected after their performances this season."

With top-tier test experience awaiting the newcomers, this tour shapes up to be a massive developmental milestone for the Connacht contingent stepping onto the global stage.
