The Connacht Clan are delighted to announce Murty Rabbitt's as our home in Galway for the forthcoming season.

Our new pub sponsor's location on Forster Street will make it an ideal base for pre- and post-match hospitality as well as providing the perfect spot to watch away games on the big screen.

The Green Room to the right of the entrance will be our exclusive spot for watching away games. Rabbitt's position as one of the closest pubs to the Sportsground means it will be perfect for post-match festivities, and will be a great location for organising events for visiting fans.

Connacht Clan members will be able to avail of a 20% discount on food from Rabbitt's excellent menu using the new Connacht Clan membership card, to be issued shortly. We will also make items ordered online available for collection at selected times.

Ciarán Hanley of Murty Rabbitt's said: "Today is a momentous occasion for Murty Rabbitts. We are delighted to be in partnership with The Connacht Clan for 2016/17. We are looking foward to the year ahead getting behind the Pro12 Champions".

To mark the new relationship, we will be gathering there on Friday, August 26th at 6pm, after the Connacht season launch event at the Sportsground, to look forward to the season ahead. The Craggy Island Rugby crew will be there to discuss the new season and record a few pieces for their latest podcast.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Dáil Bar for their support over the last three seasons.

Brilliant stuff. I know a lot of hours were probably put into this by the committee and Rabbitt's. Looking forward to my first away match already :)

Did I hear somewhere that Murty Rabbitts were going to be showing a repeat of the Pro12 final on Saturday afternoon before the Glasgow match. I think I could relive it one more time before the new season starts and its consigned to the history books.

Anybody else hear anything about this?

They definitely should. I watched it during the week and it was SOOOO enjoyable. I followed it up by watching the game in Thomand :-)

I went into Murty Rabbitt's last night after the game. I'd been there before but I got a reminder last night of how great a spot it is. Well done to those involved in organising it as the new Clan HQ.

On a less positive note, I had the misfortune of being dragged to Tribeton afterwards. (It was a friend's girlfriend's birthday. I had no choice).
The bouncer told me I had to cover my Connacht jersey before going in. To be fair to the bouncer he was a nice fella. It's the bar's policy and he was just doing his job. However, that place has some cheek. How much business do they get from people having drinks after the matches and they are banning people from wearing the jersey of the team that is generating that business for them. It's outrageous really.

I know the obvious response to this is 'What did you expect?' but I'm still annoyed.

Of course you had a choice....... Pride in the jersey or your g/f?

seems simple enough to me!

Tribeton contacted me to tell me the bouncer was mistaken last night and that Connacht jerseys are welcome in their establishment.

They really need to sort out what they want.
I have gone in there before and after games and consistently left feeling completely belittled, and have heard the same from other family members.
On one occasion I was told there was no tables free despite at least twenty visible, and staff freaking out when I asked to look at a menu another day while having a drink.
I was there for 1 1/2 to 2 hours because I was meeting people, tables were always free but they were determined not to feed us.
It was last year no jersey on any occasion, I was wearing smart jeans, shoes, shirt, jacket. I wouldn't have dreamed of trying it with a jersey.
Even though the girls loved the decor we have not returned. The staff were just not managed properly, serious superiority complexes.
I may give it one more go if they have reviewed their attitude and when I did get a look at the menu it seemed decent.

Love Rabitt's deadly handy spot before a match. Lovely steak and plenty of screens to watch any other matches.
Having said that the stands were fairly full before the game on Saturday. Pub visits may have to be reserved for after the game this season.
