Could be true, I am pretty sure I heard that Leinster have 120 development officers throughout the provience. Granted these are part timers who also coach clubs or schools to make more money.

Connacht did this a few years ago aswell. They only retained 5 at that time afaik 1 odf which was based fulltime in galway city. Neighbour of mine was one of the ones let go.
The choir is mrsc funded and while im not a fan is voluntary group afaik and only get gear etc from mrsc.

Terrific performance by Munster in that second half, well deserved win. O'Connell was superb and made a huge difference.

well well well, who expected that. i had a little feeling because of the way they pulled together vs us in musgrave, paul o connell back and rog clicked. glasgow match was due to mistakes!

today they played out of there skin, best match all weekend, o connell must be lions captain, hands down best player on the pitch with murray doing well too.

Fair play to Munster, deserved win and big lift for them. Didn't give them much of a chance here but I was never convinced by the hype surrounding Harlequins and once Munster kept with them early on they grew in belief.

Wouldn't give them much chance away to Clermont but who'd bet against them in fairness.

Well done to them. I did not see that result coming!

What did people think of the way Munster played? I didn't see much of this running rugby that Penney is always harping on about. It was forward orientated stuff that worked for Munster that and having a guy like POC making the right calls at the right time. Judging Heaslip next to him shows the difference that a good experienced captain can make to a team. I'm not saying Heaslip is bad just that POC is better.

Well we all know they played the "old" munster way!

I think the bigger question is: who decided to revert back to their core principle. Penney realised or the players decided?

The players showed penney that there is nothing wrong with the munster way. All it requires is the commitment and to be fair it requires all in commitment but when given is a thing of beauty. They started the game playing the penney way. I dont think rog kicked the ball until around 10-12 min mark. That kick changed a mindset though and it was brilliant to watch from then on.

As the hurling saying goes we have earned the right to puck the ball out to clermont now and that will do for this morning.

few people including myself not happy with munster branch for putting the game in cork but you got to admire there supporters. harlequins has issued a statement giving out to 'fans' who sold there tickets to munster supporters.

munster were given 25% of tickets = 3,750 but alot more were there, clearly out signing the quins supporters.
conor o shea prefered to keep it at the stoop so munster fans would be kept quiet due to the small numbers. this completely backfired.
harlequins missed out on going to twickenham, selling as many tickets as munster wanted and getting a very nice pile of money.

Things have gone from bad to worse in Harlequins after the weekend with the statement causing ripples.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/club/9985729/Harlequins-accuse-fans-of-selling-on-tickets-to-Munster.html

Seems fair enough to me. The idea that Quins season ticket holders facilitated Munster fans to get almost half the tickets when the club had made a big play out of having the game in the Stoop sounds appalling.

But Quins fans aren't too happy it seems

It'll all blow over after the next round of games..

But I wonder how many Munster born supporters Quins have as season ticket holders, folks who live in London and would support Munster usually but maybe can't travel to games?

That's the thing that English people don't get, the sense of Parish we have inbuilt. Our locale, city, county, province and country....

From years back I for a time (when I was injured) used to go out to Sunbury to watch Irish play and to Sunday or Friday night games (I stopped when they moved to Reading).

But regardless of that Connacht has always been my team, and even if had continued supporting Irish up to now and was a season ticket holder I know full well that if we (Connacht) were drawn against them I would be geared up in my Connacht gear.

Blood is thicker than water as the saying goes...

I imagine any Irish people with Quins season tickets would have been cheering for Munster, whether they're from Munster or not.

No, I wouldn't think so.

Personally if living over here I was still supporting Irish, I would have no problem with cheering them to wins against Munster & Leinster, my other half being an Ulster-woman (and valuing my testicles) I'd be SUFTUM....

Plus Munsters supporters haven't always endeared themselves to other provinces during their halcyon years, there was (and is still) a very vocal core who are very disingenuous to other Irish teams and I know many Leinster & Ulster supporters who are not the least bit upset when Munster lose as a consequence...
