So the ballot is now closed for the Rugby World Cup tickets
Thought a thread might be nice. You never know, 12months from now, one of us might be holding an extra ticket or in dire need of a spare, and we could potentially help each other, and we can discuss travel ideas

I've applied for 2 tickets for the following games:
Ireland vs Italy - Sunday October 4th (Olympic Stadium)
Australia vs Wales - Saturday October 10th (Twickenham)
Ireland vs France - Sunday October 11th (Cardiff)
QF3: Winner Pool D vs RU Pool c - Sunday October 18th (Cardiff)

Also in a group of 10, that applied for tickets for Ireland vs Canada - Saturday September 19th

That's the spirit!

No thread about this world cup would be complete without a rant about ticket prices - they are ridiculously high in my opinion. The fact they are charging more for games with Ireland in them is a bitter pill to swallow too.

I applied for a big pile of tickets. If I get them all my bank account will take some hammering, but if I don't get them I doubt Japan will be any cheaper.
Basically whatever happens I'll be angry about something.
Apparently at least one category in every game was oversubscribed:

Irish Rugby Supporters Club Web Forum Administrator applies for Bankruptcy in US

A man only known as Pinky in the dark world of Internet Forum administrating, has today applied for Bankruptcy in a US Court, after successfully winning the ballot for tickets to every match in Rugby World Cup in England next September
"I dont know what came over me. I mean, 2 tickets for Japan versus the US. What was I thinking? Did I expect to see a re-enactment of Pearl Harbour? No! Did a part of me hope I'd see it? Damn straight.
"I checked my emails the day of the ballot announcement, hoping for tickets to three or four Irish games. Thats it. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine having to pay £300 for 6 premium tickets to Georgia vs Tonga.
"It would have been some session though"

While Pinky has forfeited his tickets, with his refusal to pay, he is still hoping to get to enjoy some of the live action in England

I'm looking for four for the France and Italy games. We'll keep our fingers cross (and credit cards on ice)

France v Romania - cheapest ticket available = £20

Ireland v Romania - cheapest ticket available = £50

The RFU can kiss my pale one with their exploitation and I'll save the money to follow Connacht (Pro12 will be running concurrently) and put some towards Japan.

I mean I get the whole supply and demand argument and everyone knows we'd fill all of their stadiums twice over but surely the difference in population size would mean we should be treated the same price-wise as the French (who aren't too shabby for travelling in numbers)?

The cynic in me says that means the category D tickets were oversubscribed in every game, because they're the only ones at a reasonable price, and also because there's probably about 100 of them at each match.

Have applied for tickets for the France game and the 2 quarter finals the following weekend, all in Cardiff. Depending on whether I need money at the time, I might sell the ones Ireland are not in (hoping they'll be in one of them!), I might go to both. All going to plan, the other quarter final will be France - New Zealand so would be hard to turn that down if I had tickets and was in Cardiff anyway!

Plan is to get the ferry over, spend the weekend of the France game in Cardiff, then hit off randomly driving around Wales and England and make it back to Cardiff for the following weekend.

Put in for a pair of cheapest for the London games ( Italy & Romania ), chose no upgrade so if I don't get £50 ones, I don't want £85 ones. RFU/IRB can rot in hell before it'll get another dime from me.

As much as I'd like to do all the games like I did in France (for half the price and better seats), half the games will be in half full stadiums (Ireland-Canada in Millennium and Ireland-Romania at Wembley for definite).

Replace Oz v Wales with Ire v Romania and I've gone for all the same as ConnachtCows - if I get them all, the bank account will take a proper kick in the nads but living in London has some advantages in terms of travel. Only drawback is that the vast majority of these matches are Sundays and my liver is not what it used to be. Prepare for several Mondays of mediocre work.....

Nice one sol!

Did not apply myself but plenty of mates did. No joy for the majority.

Seems to be similar to mates who applied for Commonwealth Games tickets in Glasgow. You either got none or loads.

Anyways, will start getting mates who work in The City to start asking around as plenty of banks in UK are sponsors.

Good luck to everyone else who applied.
