Massive loss. If he hadn't played for Fiji, he'd have played many times for Ireland by now. I'm guessing there is some sort of family crisis if he has to take such drastic action, so all the best to him if that's the case.
For those of you on twitter, Ross O'Carroll Kelly is worth a follow in general, but particularly at times like this. He said this morning that he wants to drive Isa and Sexton to the airport when they finish up, so they can reminisce.
Outstanding member for the Leinster success story in recent years, Leinsters "John Langford" really. Easily in the top three NIQ's to have played for the provinces, and for me probably the best back of all in terms of he quality of rugby he has delivered..

Wonder if we would still have got Carr if they knew Nasewa was leaving?

Fitzgerald's contract extension is still on the table and Cullen is staying another year.Sexton asides they've known who's going for a long time and have had plenty of time to plan replacements.

Must be a somewhat serious situation if he is retiring from the game. I'd imagine Leinster offered him a good sum plus a certain level of freedom to return home as needed to get him to change his mind. A versatile back that ascended above the jack of all trades label which made him the perfect NIQ signing for the province.
It will be interesting to hear who Leinster have coming in. They certainly have some spots to fill.

The main money is on Willie Le Roux but Gerhard van den Heever could be in the mix.

Given Madigan's performance vs Glasgow and Jackson's performance vs Edinburgh...you just have to ask what was Kidney thinking?

ah the crystal ball that every manager should have. considering madigan was either on bench or at fullbsck for all leinsters big games prior to sextons injury while pj played at 10 in almost all of ulsters during their unbeateen run!

So Fitzgerald is staying with Leinster.
If ever there was a player who deserved an incentive based contract it is him. Since the '09 Lions tour he has regressed as a player, and become more and more injury prone.

leinster 18 ulster 22
turned on the last 10 mins and the game went on till 87min!!!
leinster had a penalty with 5 mins to go, turned it down and went into the corner, it was all attack for the next 12mins. great defence from ulster.
ref blew the full time whistle, players shacked hands and 60seconds later the ref went to the TMO and the ball was held up
