Whats going on with the vainikola and fafilli not even making the bench at this stage? IMO they should be given a run of a few games to show what they can do at least from the bench, its not like we have have been showing world class backline patterns/ offloads etc in their absence.

Griffin and McSharry have played twice, once together over in the Stoop and caused Quins alot of problems and held their own v Toulouse. They are the future of this province and imo the best centres we have. My views on Fa'afili's big defensive frailties are well documented in other threads.
Vainikolo looks like he has a bit of flair but in the short glimpses I've seen I can't help but be concerned about basic mistakes. Looks very brainless, doesn't look too interested in tackling and that ball he dropped last week was laughable. He was supposed to be very poor in the 2 'A' games he has played as well.

We have something like thirteen games in a row without a break. It's not about dropping players, it's about rotating them to keep everyone fresh, reduce the risk of injury and make sure everyone is comfortable with the game plan. I'd expect to see both of the guys within the next two or three games.

One move along those lines would be to give Duffy a break. Put TOH at fullback and Vainikola or Henry on the wing.

When these lads start justifying their position on the team, they should start, just because they came as our so called big name signings doesn't mean they should be starting.
McSharry, Griffin, Tonetti (first 3 choices at centre) and McCrea lined up in the 13 slot during the blood replacement last weekend. Fa'aili has yet to prove himself. Word when he signed was he had done better for Leeds at Centre than when he started on the wing, so wouldn't be rushing to start him on the wing either. In fairness to the management team at least they took a punt on McSharry ahead of Fa'aili and it has been a positive move.
Vainikolo has yet to prove himself either, showed one or two glimpses last Saturday of what he might bring to the table, but I would share the concerns of Porterbelly, I'm sure he'll get more chances if he performs in training and A games.
Our backs haven't been able to get anything much going mainly because of the struggles with primary possession and the complete lack of quality/ideas at half back.
There is far more pressing issues to address than why these two haven't played more.

I'd rather give TOH the break with his dodgy hamstring and all.
