I believe there is a house built now, where the entrance road used to be. Short term thinking!

Don't remember any other pedestrian access other than College Road going back to the 70's, but given location it probably was vehicle access to the Kennels on Doggie Race Days...
Don't think there's sufficient space for a house to be built on...

The OSI GeoHive Map shows a house there now. It might make more sense to apply for permission to open up a new entrance further north into Coole Park between the back car park and small green area. Although I don't think the residents would be too happy about that!

Good shout, it's there on aerial view alright...
You'd certainly imagine that with a capacity that will be increased by half (at least), that there will be a requirement from a H&S perspective of an alternative exit point other than College Road in the event of an incident or emergency. There's very few options available really, unless they purchase some properties and get approval form local residents....

Ye're all gone mad with the photos..
The back of my mind has a memory of a gate being their in the long long ago past..
I'm sure they've emergency exits covered in the plans as that's as necessary as the loos..

Nice interview here on Off The Ball with Willie Ruane.
Plan is to get planing permission, funding and start next year. I'll be surprised if work is started this time next year but fingers crossed.
Phase 1 is to build the high performance centre, and move into there. (Offices, medical, dressing rooms)
Phase 2 is to knock the building behind the Clan and knock the Clan stand itself and build that stand. The Clan stand will be the Main Stand.
Phase 3 is to knock and build the (now) Main stand.

Hmmm, I was under the impression from the pics that the current main stand was just getting a refurb. Great news tho, new stands on either side with all modern facilities etc.
I'd assume that the changing rooms will in the Clan stand so they'll just be able to walk straight out onto the pitch. Bit of a shame in a way, I know a load of kids like to stand and wait for the teams to pass when they're going onto the pitch.

Sorry he didn't say knock the main stand. He just said 'move across in the other side of the pitch and work on that'.

Some more detail in Linley's article:
www.advertiser.ie/galway/article/103581/...light-for-the-region
Time line
Planning application is expected to be made with the Galway City Council in the next few weeks, and once Connacht receives word of the funding application and its window for submission, the application will be made. "We are opening up a process with the local residents so they can view all the plans. They can visit us here, ask questions of the relevant people and give feedback so we can submit our planning within the next couple of weeks. Depending on the outcome of the planning, we wouldn't be hanging about. If we have the wind in our back, we'd like to kick off pretty soon."
The first job will be to resurface the pitch. "We will still play here, all the way through, but it will affect the capacity, so there will be a retracted capacity during that period. But we still want to play here and train here, so one of the first things we want to do is improve the surface, put a new pitch in and that would allow us to train on that main pitch."
The new offices and high performance facility will then be built to cater for all the staff and players before the current offices are knocked to make way for the main stand. The last piece in the construction will be extending the terraces of the Greyhound stand

Only took the one unfortunately, side view of new stand (because I wanted to check the standing room - yes, I DO have a one-track mind...)
