Have to laugh at some of the complaints on here. I can understand the frustration of not being able to go where you normally go to watch the game but ye still have the opportunity to attend the biggest game the province has ever played.

I'm someone whos being to game for over 15 years and due to different circumstances had to give up my season ticket a few years back.

I'm probably going to miss out on a ticket such is the demand for this game and even though i have bought next years season ticket.
So be thankful ye have tickets for this momentous occasion and save the anger and devastation for those of us who most likely wont get to the game at all.

Edit - got 2 tickets but still be more devastated for genuine fans that don't get tickets rather than fans that have to move elsewhere.

Just remember that this is a Pro 12 gig and Connacht are hosting it. so all the terms and conditions were set by the Pro 12 and not Connacht

I am usually first to put the boot into Connacht set up at times but this is/was a Tickets.ie and Pro 12 issue

Its a PRO 12 directive as to how the tickets are allocated and why people will be out of the Clan and why there is a buy one extra with your season ticket. Its also a PRO 12 directive that 25% of all space is used for travelling fans. There is also tickets kept for general sale so I personally would suggest trying again on Wednesday in the general sale for Clan tickets.

Then tickets.ie have huge questions to answer for their website I know they are Connachts partner of choice but they still have to get it right. (ticketmaster often have issues with people going hell for leather on release days)

It may be a "pro12 gig" but conditions of sale for Connacht's ticket allocation was up to them.

Leinster were able to guarantee all season ticket holders their exact seat for the the semi, while also allowing them to purchase extra tickets if they so desired.

It seem this was down to tickets.ie not being able to offer the same level of service as ticket master (which is in some way understandable as they are a much smaller organisation), and the crazy decision from the Connacht branch to allow season ticket holders to buy 2 tickets instead of one.

If we all had 2 days to secure our ticket only then purchase extra tickets in general sale then there would have been no scramble this morning and all season ticket holders that wanted one would have their ticket.

Connacht website update:

www.connachtrugby.ie/update-semi-final-tickets/#ConnachtNews

In summary: they apologise for tickets.ie dipsticks; point out this is a Pro12 gig; confirm ticket allocations not in their control.

This is good though:
"We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our supporters and although we cannot guarantee the specific location of the match tickets (the Clan Terrace and Enclosure are now Sold Out), Connacht Rugby have reserved two tickets per Season Ticket Holder until this Wednesday May 11th at 9am."

I'd just like to point out that tickets were not on sale at the awards dinner on sat night.
A few of us who were at the dinner became aware through the forum and a few of us availed of the opening.
They were not selling them at the dinner.

Afternoon, all!

So, I got a call from the CEO of Connacht Rugby, Willie Ruane in the last half an hour. They are taking things very seriously when it comes to ticketing issues some people have been having this morning. A few things he wanted to mention to me, a lot that connemaraman has mentioned. I should also say that we've been in very close communication with the team on College Road to pass on our views. I've had two longish meetings with the Branch a good few phonecalls, more emails than I can count.

Firstly, this is a Pro12 event, merely hosted and facilitated by Connacht Rugby. The Pro12 call the shots on ticket allocations, not only the Glasgow allocation, but also the allocation for Pro12 sponsors, for Pro12 officials etc. This reduces the number of tickets for all sections of the ground, but obviously most for the 'premium' sections, i.e. the Clan, the Main Stand and the enclosed area. If the Pro12 wanted the entire Clan side for themselves/Glasgow, they'd have to get it. This is the price of being in a semi, we lose a bit of control.

Obviously there was hassles with tickets.ie, between the tickets going on sale briefly on Saturday and the issues this morning. I think we all have to acknowledge that this is well outside Connacht Rugbys control (while obviously, it's something that'll be raised with tickets.ie!).

I'm going to clarify with situation with the +1 on tickets, and will post an update when I get that confirmation. It's important to note that the +1s are usually not some blow ins or lads who have never set foot in the SG before - people I've been speaking to are getting them for parents, family members and mates who are travelling to Galway for the match. I bought a +1 for a good mate of mine who was a ST holder in the past, but works a lot in Dublin and couldn't justify the ST Again, not 100% ideal but the best of a bad lot.

Lads, I know there's a lot of people disappointed that they weren't able to get in the area that they are used to, but this is probably the biggest match (to date) that Connacht has ever been involved in. It's unprecedented, literally. The Branch listened to our concerns about the pre-sale for the Semi Final of the ECC and acted on them.

The reality is that there are very limited numbers in the SG. Given how big the draw will be, some people are going to miss out. Some people how have only been to two matches this year are going to be in the Clan, some people who haven't missed a match in 10 years are going to be on the Bohermore end. It sucks!

Also we can now say this: Connacht Rugby - we're so big that we broke the internet!

Edit: I said 'I' too many times - the fact is the whole committee has been part of this process - I was just the man who got the call today!

Agree Shelflife- word came from outside the dinner that tickets.ie was open. I didn't manage to buy but the conversation around the table was that tickets shouldn't be available and one of the gang informed the Branch. Sales stopped then..

That wouldn't work for us, specifically because the Clan is very nearly full of ST holders. When you take away the Pro12 allocation and the Glasgow allocation, even limited to 1 per ST holder, there are going to be people missing out.

So it sounds like they are still reserving 2 tickets for each season ticket holder until Wednesday (even if it's not is a preferred location)

That's what they say. So it's not too bad then. It guarantees all season ticket holders will attend the match.

pinky wrote: I suppose the key point is that we need to try and make sure the spare Clan terrace tickets people got go to other Clan STHs. There should be enough floating around to sort out most of us. We'll all have people asking us for tickets but make sure the regulars are sorted first and then give the spare Main Stand, end terrace tickets etc to the more casual fans.

I'm upset with you Pinky- I've been in the Main Stand since before the creation of the Clan Stand. Dinosaurs roamed freely on the 'far side' as it was then.. Casual in dress I'll accept, but a casual fan... never..
I'll hit you a wallop when I see you..

I'm not sure what more Connacht could have done TBH, every season ticket holder gets the option to buy 2 tickets before tickets go on general sale. They could never have guaranteed the location of those tickets due to the fact that the PRO12 get to decide who goes where.

Well, I think the problem was that they did not make this clear at the start. The major panic this morning was that people were worried that they were not going to get any tickets at all.
I'm lucky in that I got my Clan ticket. But to be honest, as long as I got any ticket, I would be happy enough.

Apologies mahick and to all of those who willingly choose to watch from the wonderful main stand - and munch greyhound burgers or whatever ye do over there :)
What I should have said was something like - sort out the STHs with tickets for their usual spot, and pass on the spare tickets to the more casual fans.
