Not trying to jinx anything but seeing that the reality is we are on the cusp of a home semi I want to comment on the email from the branch that landed in inbox today.

Giving a presale to STH on Sunday from 9am is all good and well but it's not exactly considerate of the travelling fans who won't be even near home by that time Sun. It's a 24hr presale before pubic sale but it's still unnerving thinking the tickets may be flying of the shelves while we crawl home!

I have a hazed memory of this happening before but can't remember the game/circumstances.

I understand that it's for STH only so the number is limited so technically my ticket should be safe to buy again but maybe a main stand STH will want my Clan ticket! I don't know if that will be an option.

Anyway, that is all.

Fully in agreement here.
Surprised they're not giving longer to folks to buy if we win - at least until Tuesday to allow folks travel home.
I'll be home Sunday night - must remember to buy if we win.

Haven't double checked it, but I think they have the internet in France....

Wouldn't it be great if we had thought of that. Do let us know if you find out.

we had raised this issue with the branch a few months ago and it's somehting that they are very aware of.

Part of the issue is timing - there is limited enough time before the Semi - and part of it are ERC rules about sale times, allocation etc. I won't even pretend to know the specifics of this!

Not ideal at all, and I think the branch know it's not a perfect solution, but probably the best that could be swung!

Not the internet, but the raging French wine/cider hangover that I'd be worried about!

Don't they still use Telex machines over there?
Not sure if tickets.ie site is backwards compatible that far.

This is an absolute disgrace.
Season ticket holders should be guaranteed a ticket, not given a pathetic 24 hour window.
Why the hell would I bring my season ticket with me to France?
Trying to use the EPCR as an excuse is ridiculous also.
I replied to the mail venting my frustration. I would suggest anyone else who's a p***ed off as I am do likewise.

Is there not someone at home you can get in touch with it, to send you your account details via text or email?
I didnt even get the email from Connacht

No, my ST is in my wallet on the kitchen table. If anyone wants to break into my gaff to retrieve it, I would appreciate it!
The point is, I shouldn't have to.
There's not a reason in the world they can't guarantee STHs a ticket until the day before the game.
I seriously can't imagine there would be more than a handful that wouldn't buy them anyway.

I can't for the life of me figure out what ye're all getting so wound up about.

1. You all have smartphones. You can surely find the 2 minutes necessary to book a ticket on Sunday. (Most of you will be hanging around an airport for a few hours....probably posting on here)

2. Those of you who don't keep the conveniently credit card shaped season ticket in your wallet can get your number from the confirmation email sent out when you booked it. It's labelled "Account Number".

IF Connacht win (and I really don't like this mocker Gods baiting thread) they could have as few as 11 days to flog as many tickets for as much as possible. IF Connacht win Monday's papers will be full of publicity that money can't buy but that feel good factor will fade. Holding Clan tickets off the market when you could be flogging them for 90 quid would be madness.

Now stop talking about the semifinal.

If you have gmail check your non-primary folders. Gmail obligingly out that email in "Promotions" (i.e. sh1t I never look at) when previously all Connacht mail has gone to my primary folder. Wouldn't have spotted it if not for this thread. Cheers!

There's no need to hold all the tickets off the market.
They just need to hold back one for each STH - they could sell the other 5000 odd as soon as the final whistle went if they wanted.
The five or six unclaimed STH tickets could then be put on sale a couple of days before the game.

Apart from those travelling, plenty of people just won't spot the email - like if they used their work email and arrive in on Monday morning to find they've missed the party.
I got a text from Connacht today about renewing the STH and it wasn't even mentioned in that.

In other news, I found my ST number in the mail I sent to claim my guest tickets for the Ospreys game.
But I'm not any less angry ...

Well if Montpellier's so great why don't you go live there?! [/joke]

[serious] I can now actually see why people who haven't heard about the presale would be rightly pi**ed off. (Still don't think it's that much hassle for those who have heard about it though (IF Connacht win))

The thinking might be that if people know a batch of clan tickets are going to be released to the market in a week or so, they might hold off on purchasing; and a proportion of these might end up not buying any ticket as the distance from the epic media coverage that will ensue (IF Connacht win) grows.
